Shirvon Stanford

Shirvon Stanford, 75, transitioned peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Easton, Maryland. Born to the late Howard Stanford and Eleanor B. Stanford, on June 10, 1950, in Salisbury, Maryland, she lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and community. A proud graduate of Wicomico High School’s Class of 1967, Shirvon went on to earn her certification in Hospitality Food. Her career took her to the Mercy Center in Illinois, where she served with care and commitment. Her heart, however, was always with children. She drove a school bus for the Wicomico County School District before fulfilling her dream of opening her own home daycare, where she nurtured and guided countless young lives. In addition to her many gifts, Shirvon also served her country with pride. During the 1990s, she was a member of the National Guard, demonstrating the same dedication, discipline, and quiet strength that she carried throughout every part of her life. Her service reflected her deep sense of responsibility to her community and her unwavering commitment to helping others. In her later years, Shirvon embraced a quieter, joy‑filled life rooted in faith, family, and fellowship. She was a devoted member of St. John AME Zion Church, where she served lovingly as a cook and active participant in the church community. After stepping away from her daycare, she enjoyed her well‑earned time — playing Bingo, going to the casino, sharing laughter with friends, and cherishing every moment she could with her children, grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. Her days were filled with simple joys, warm conversations, and the deep love she poured into everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her six children: Deon Stanford, Denece Washington (Walee), Tamia Copes, Tasha Stanford, the late Desmond Cuffy Jr., and Phillip Cuffy. She is also survived by: her brothers, Emmanual (Kenny) Stanford, Derrick Stanford, Alan Stanford and Ronnie Stanford; her sisters, Mary Candie and Deborah Stanley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great‑grandchildren and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her memory close. Shirvon was preceded in death by her beloved son, Desmond Cuffy Jr., her great grand-daughter Tru’Royalty Williams, and her brothers Daryl Lee and Reginald Stanford. Though gone too soon, Shirvon’s legacy lives on in every life she touched—with her laughter, her generosity, and her boundless love.
