Alexander Ollie King

Obituary John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’ Presiding Elder Alexander Ollie King, affectionately known as “Poppie,” “Dad,” “Ellic,” and “Alex,” was born on December 18, 1944, in Princess Anne, Maryland, to the late Presiding Elder Ollie King, Jr. and Pearl Sarah Boles. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, Maryland, at the age of eighty-two (82). Alex received his education through Somerset County Public Schools in Princess Anne, Maryland. He was introduced to GOD at an early age and was faithfully raised in The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, where he later became a Presiding Elder. Alex was an avid guitar player who learned to play from his Poppa, and oh, how he loved it. Music brought him joy, and in addition to the guitar, he also played the piano and drums. He served as Assistant Pastor in Chance, Maryland at one time. His greatest joy was when he drove for the Sr. Bishop J. Zerubbabel Terrell. He did this until his health began to fail. He volunteered at Summer Camp and enjoyed pioneering on the farm. Throughout his life, Alex worked in many different fields. He was a former truck driver, shipbuilder, custodian, and nursing aide — truly an “Ellic of all trades.” Alex was preceded in death by: his parents, Presiding Elder Ollie King, Jr. and Pearl Sarah Boles; his bonus mother, Mother Hazel King; his sister, Althea King and Pearl King; his brothers, Stephen King, Daniel King, Timothy King, and Alonzo Bryson. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his daughters, Tracye King of Atlanta, Georgia, and Pam Reid-McGill of Wilmington, Delaware; his sisters, Mtr. Sylvia Phillips of Princess Anne, Maryland, Elderess Naomi King Bailey of Princess Anne, Maryland, and Mtr. Audrey King of Princess Anne, Maryland; his brothers, Bro. Joshua King (Catherine) of Salisbury, Maryland, Presiding Elder Michael King (Mtr. Marlene) of Copperas Cove, Texas, Philemon King (Vanessa) of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Titus King of Princess Anne, Maryland, Nehemiah King (Vicky) of Delmar, Maryland, and Amos King of Austin, Texas. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Lexye Adams of Atlanta, Georgia, Ernest, Jr., Morgan, Taylor, Kayla, and Bailee McGill, all of Wilmington, Delaware, 7 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who were entertained by his humor, touched by his spirit, and will miss him dearly.
