Mattie C. Morris, daughter of the late Julias and Hattie Wingate, was born on February 9, 1912 in Darling, SC. She passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at her home. She was 98 years old.
Mrs. Morris moved to Boston, MA and started her business as a seamstress. She was a member of Tretmont Baptist Church in Boston, MA. She loved helping people cooking and traveling.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband Cyrus Morris, son Edward Council, great-grandson Michael Council, Jr., sister Lurleen Patterson and brother Chambus Wingate.
She is survived by a devoted son Kenneth and daughter-in-law Thelma; two grandchildren, Michel Council of Boston, MA and Carlet Ward of Dover, DE; great-grandson LeShawn Perry of Belchetown, MA; a devoted caregiver Elizabeth Parker of Springfield, MA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
