Obituary:
Dorothy Lee Conaway departed this life on January 27, 2010 at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge, MD. Born on November 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James Herman Conaway and Alma Jackson Conaway. She was 78 years old. She was fondly called “Dot” by her family and friends.

Dorothy attended East New Market Elementary School and graduated from F.D. St. Clair High School in Cambridge, MD with the Class of 1949.

Dorothy became a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in East New Market, MD at an early age. She loved the Lord.

Dorothy worked at various canning factories before becoming employed at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, MD. She retired from the hospital after working there for 27 years as a nursing assistant. She really enjoyed her work at the hospital.

Dorothy loved her family very much. She was the last living sibling of ten children. Even though she had no children, she was a mother-figure to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a very loving and compassionate person.

She leaves to mourn six nieces, Lillie Magee, Carolyn Bolden (Bradford), Teresa Conaway, Cheryl Copper (Charles), Althia Gaskins (Dietrich) and Cleo Stanley; six nephews, Clarence Baltimore, Jr. (Gloria), Ralph Baltimore (Evelyn), Reginald Conaway (Vernetta), Gregory Conaway (Sherita), Alvin Conaway, Rodney Conaway (Cheryl); a very special great-nephew “Little Rodney” Conaway; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five sisters Lula Cornish, Hattie Stanley, Pauline Baltimore, Alma Louise Cain and Ruth Stanley; five brothers James, Allen, Charles, Jessie and Algie Conaway; and sister-in-law Sedonia Conaway.
