Laura B. Smith of Harrington, DE went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 23, 2010. She was born in Harrington, DE on October 30, 1931, daughter of the late Ward L. and Margaret G. Russ.
Laura was a devoted Christian. She was member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church. She had many hobbies; she loved to cook, to read, to garden, and to travel. She worked as a cook for most of her adult life in various local establishments in Harrington and surrounding areas. She loved spending time with her family. She would be heard quoting scriptures daily and would encourage her family to be loyal to your faith and most of all to make the most out of what God has given them.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ward L. and Margaret G. Russ; lifetime friend George F. Polk; her son, Ward Steven Smith, her sisters Margaret Ann Russ and Ida Mae Brown; her granddaughter, Jessica A. Smith and her son-in-law James E. Blackwell.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her children Gladys E. Russ of Harrington, Susan Smith-Blackwell of Dover, Angela Smith of Dover and Laura Frances Smith of Dover, George Polk, Jr. of Dover and Jorja Polk of Harrington, Christina Scott of Harrington, Deborah Marton of Seaford, Kimberly Johnson of Lincoln, Lisa Sylvain of Denton, MD, Jackie Goodwin of Bridgeville, Carolyn Grant of Bridgeville and Ralph Collie of Bridgeville; her sisters Wardella Anderson of Milford and Bessie Russ of Felton; her brothers Samuel Marion of Felton, James Anderson of Harrington, Clarence Rainey of Milford; her grandchildren Lara Smith-Curry, Jamie Smith, Lacy Smith-Peacock, Jessie Peacock, Cameron Dennis, Kevin Smith, Jason Blackwell, Justin Blackwell, Jennifer Smith, Maya Smith & Marquis Smith; thirteen great-grandchildren, five nephews, four nieces to include a special niece Lillie Mae Johnson; and a host of cousins and friends.
