Edna Marcella Lewis, daughter of the late Charles and Augusta Hines, was born on July 4, 1921. She departed this life on January 20, 2010, at her home in Pondtown, MD. She was 88 years old.
She graduated from Kennard High in Centreville, MD and worked several factory jobs. She retired from Campbell Soup Company.
She was affectionately called Mom Edna by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed corresponding with friends and family near and far. Even when she was in the rehabilitation center or hospital she was always concerned about the well being of others. She faithfully co-sponsored the Lewis Family and Friends day for forty years which will be continued by the family. Her faith and trust in God has left a lasting imprint on many, especially her family.
She was a lifetime member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Lewis; son Marvin Lewis; brothers Charles Hines, Reese Hines, John Hines, and William Hines; sisters Annie Ringgold, Bessie Downes, and Myrtle Raisin; grandson Vincent Harris; and great-grandsons Thurston Harris, Jr., and Vaughn Harris.
Edna leaves to cherish precious memories her children Barbara Ann Harris (Johnnie Jr.) of Pondtown, MD, Gwendolyn Lewis (Larry Wilson) of Pondtown, MD, Bishop Nelson E. Lewis (Barbara) of Dover, DE, Evangelist Jacqueline Lewis-Henry (Elder Darnell) of Millington, MD, Elder Dwayne Lewis of Stockton, CA; one daughter-in-law Judy Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; one sister Emma Elliott of Pondtown, MD; grandchildren Derrick, Celestine, Sheldon, Tara, Shannelle (devoted granddaughter), Dwanna, Corey, Ronald, Gary, Johnnie, Thurston, Keith, Delores, Christyn, Brandi, and Rachel; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
