Obituary:
Grace Anderson Bantum died on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 5:00 a.m. at the Easton Memorial Hospital in Easton, Maryland. Born on May 17, 1928 in Charlottesville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Grace Ward Anderson.

Grace joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She attended Jefferson Elementary and graduated from Jefferson High School. She went on to graduate from Virginia State College in Petersburg, VA. Her first job was in Chase City, VA as a Librarian in the high school there. She was also employed at the University of Virginia and Beauford Elementary School. Upon moving to Easton, MD, she became employed at Moton High School as a Librarian, and met and married J.C. Bantum. To this union, they were blessed with one son, Jo Tanner Bantum.

Grace was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where she was an active member of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and the Retired Teachers Association (The Notables).

She is survived by her son Jo Tanner Bantum; her sister Nancy Sampson and husband Richard of McLean, VA; her cousin Ruth Cabell and her husband Henry of Charlottesville, VA; three nephews and one niece. Grace will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
